At Wagga Family Dental we can offer our patients both in-chair and take home tooth whitening options.

Why are my teeth discoloured?

• Surface stains which are caused by food, tea, coffee, smoking and alcohol
• Age
• Poor oral hygiene
• Certain medication

As not everybody is suitable for teeth whitening we recommend that all patients undergo a comprehensive examination before service is provided. 

Why can't my teeth be whitened?

• Sensitive teeth
• Defective or absent tooth enamel
• Gum disease
• Dental implants/crowns/veneers/fillings/dentures – whitening will not change the colour of these.
• Pregnancy or breast feeding

Take home whitening

The procedure:

An impression is made of your teeth to create a fabricated tray customised to the shape of your teeth. We will explain how to use the bleaching material in detail then the trays and bleaching agent are handed over to you. We recommend you use the product twice a day for 45 minutes and it should take 2 weeks to achieve the desired colouring (this can differ between customers.) This is of course dependent on correctly following instructions.

In chair

The process in chair is much quicker as we use a combination of high intensity light and bleaching material. Your appointment will take about an hour and when you leave the practice your teeth will be abundantly whiter.
