Pregnancy dental

‘Pregnancy gingivitis’ is a mild form of gum disease. Hormone levels increase which causes the gums to become much more senstive to bacteria in plaque. This can result in sore and inflammed gums which may also bleed.

Tips before and during pregnancy the can manage pregnancy gingivitis:

  • Brush your teeth twice a day
  • Floss everyday
  • Limit sweet/starchy foods
  • Eat foods that are high in calcium
  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day
  • Make regular appointments to see your dentist.
